This is a wonderful initiative by our President. I am currently working with a nonprofit organization, “Friends of Joe W. Brown Memorial Park,” located in a post Hurricane Katrina ravaged area of Eastern New Orleans. The goal of our nonprofit is to assist in the restoration and preservation of Joe W. Brown Park, in order to provide an open air outdoor extension of the classroom by offering educational, recreational and cultural courses and activities in the Park. This, we believe will assist children, particularly, in becoming more physically active while learning about the environment, and will promote better health, and aid in the prevention of childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes. Can you tell me if there are grant funding opportunities for such programs offered in the outdoors? If so, would you please provide me with the application and information? This is an exciting and much needed opportunity. Thanks so much.
